The lead story is chosen for the shooting because it is a big event for the president of The United States visiting China, both are strong countries. Also, there are many problems they need to be solved, for example, China needs to raise concerns over human rights and concerns the Global Warming problems.
The anchor was serious for her tone and also got a serious facial expression which makes me feel that this news is really very important.

FROM LAURA JAECKEL: I found it very interesting how the news always focuses on the sad or problem stories. There is rarely a victory story on the news. It is all of the stuff that we want to know that take the headlines, even though most of us are actually involved with things like twitter, and it only got 15 seconds. I'm not saying this is wrong, just interesting!
